Christmas Five Senses Camp
4 DAYS · 5 SENSES · ONE CHRISTMAS JOURNEY
Art is more than what you see.
This Christmas, we want kids to
feel art with their whole body.
From European masterpieces, scents and flowers to vinyl records and a live string ensemble — ending with a cake turned into a canvas. Over four days we open children's sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste, and bring art out of the museum and into everyday life.
Five Senses Camp isn't about painting realistically or making pretty things. It's about opening the body's senses — to look, listen, smell, touch and feel — and turning all of it into an imagination of their own.

FIVE SENSES
What we hope kids take home
is a way of feeling the world
Not just four artworks, a few photos, or "I've been to that museum."
Four days, five senses,
one creative journey
Starting from a classical painting, we visit a flower market, hear strings and a century-old gramophone, mix scents, and finally turn a cake into a canvas.
From a beam of light, seeing art
We visit the museum to see European masterpieces. Children observe light, shadow, figures and composition, and discover how much detail a single painting holds to be read.
Instead of copying a masterpiece, we add imagination. If the person in the painting stepped into today, what hat would she wear? What accessories? What personality? Children redesign the look of the painted figures.
Art doesn't have to be flat
We head to the Neihu Flower Market. Children learn about different flowers, colours and textures — and sneak into the florist's "secret base": a giant walk-in fridge! Delicate blooms need the cold to stay beautiful longer. Then, with a set budget, each child goes shopping: comparing prices, finding flowers that fit, and choosing between "I like it" and "I can afford it".
Back in the classroom we learn floral design. Through trimming, arranging, height, direction and space, children discover that art can grow forward, backward and upward.
If music could be drawn
We turn our ears into paintbrushes. A string ensemble plays live in the classroom while children draw what they hear. Music has no fixed shape — some hear lines, some feel colours, others draw the bounce of rhythm.
We visit the Vinyl Record Museum, travelling from the streaming music kids know back to the gramophone of a century ago. In an age with no phones, no Bluetooth and no Spotify — how did people keep sound?
The invisible can be art too
We explore the hardest sense to put into words: scent. "What does this smell like?" "If this scent were a person, what would they be like?" There's no right answer — children find their own language for something invisible and untouchable, yet real.
On Christmas Eve, the canvas becomes a cake. Using cream in different colours, children treat the cake as a 3D canvas and build their own Christmas cake layer by layer — taking four days of work and feelings home.

When children are willing to explore the world with their own senses, art no longer lives only in museums.
It slowly walks into daily life — a way for children to understand the world, express themselves,
and keep their imagination.
Don't lose your imagination
just because you grew up.
